College Days Again

First day of graduate school...
EMGT 806: Finance for Engineers
I'm actually really excited about this class.  There are about 26 people enrolled.  Most of them have been working in the industry and are starting school again.  A couple of guys just got their B.S.'s in Engineering and were granted permission to start the graduate program right away.  There were a few classmates that were laid off from the their old engineering jobs and are full-time students.  There's one student that lives in Illinois and will probably not be attending any of the classes in person.  The class is taught by two professors.  They both seem to be great teachers and I'm eager to learn from them.  They've already got me excited about learning about finance.

A Dozen Red Roses

I got a phone call this morning from the Receiving Department saying that there was a 'personal' package waiting for me to pick up.  The entire time I was walking to the back of the plant I was thinking to myself, "What could I have possibly ordered that would have been labeled as a 'personal' package?"  When I finally found FBB30 (post location for Receiving), I walked in hesitantly afraid that I was entering the wrong department.  The woman that had called me recognized me and hurriedly walked to a long rectangular package.  The boxed was labeled 1-800-flowers.com!  I had to keep myself from getting giddy with excitement.  :)  I opened the box right there with the two ladies in the department hovering over me to get a look at what was in the box.  It was a dozen long-stemmed red roses neatly packaged with purple tissue and plastic wrapping with the ends placed in a clear glass vase.  I just about cried right there!  I read the message enclosed in the box.  Of course it was from Andrew!!  I was so shocked that he had actually sent me flowers.  I've never gotten flowers delivered to me at work before.  I didn't even know that they could be sent to Honeywell.  The two women told me congratulations.  I asked them if flowers were ever sent to the plant before.  The woman who had called me originally said that, yes, they do occasionally get flowers delivered but it usually happens on Valentine's Day.  I walked back to my desk with the rectangular box in my arms.  I carefully unpackaged the flowers and placed them on my desk.  Now they're there to make me smile!

Dinner Date w/ the Boys

Snowed In

After a day of staying in and working from home, I spent some quality time with Andrew:

LOOONG Drive Home

Left work early today.  It didn't really matter.  It still took 2 1/2 hours to drive what would have normally taken me 30 minutes to drive...  I don't think I got out of first gear the entire time I was on I-435.

I really hate winter.

Friday night was a great game night in front of the fireplace.

Saturday, I had my first workout at TITLE Boxing Club.  The Power Hour Boxing was exciting and motivating.  A night out at P&L ended up being fun and very eventful with flashing lights in the mirrors...

DODGEBALL!

Played dodgeball today for the first time since high school!  I think I played dodgeball in high school... or has it been since middle school?  I was horrible but I was told that I'm better than the other two girls on the team.  :)  I need to practice on throwing the ball harder and faster.  Ummm, how do you do that?

I saw one of the guys I met on match.com at the game.  I think he plays on one of the competitive teams.  He talked to the teams on the first day, telling us some of the rules and lead the prayer before the games started.  It was kind of awkward walking past him on my way out afterwards.  I would have said hi, but I forgot his name...

Attended the KU Edwards Campus' Orientation and Enrollment...

and got a name tag with a Jayhawk on it.

I'm not sure how I feel about my name sharing space with a chicken hawk.  :)
I enrolled in EMGT 806 Finance for Engineers, Thursdays from 7:10-10:00 PM.  I'm excited about going back to school.  Not excited about taking a finance class.  And definitely not excited about a 3 hour class on Thursday nights.  I had to reschedule Family Dinner Night to Wednesdays instead.
I'm a student again!

Adam's Birthday Party

Andrew's brother, Adam, turned 32 years old yesterday.  Since we couldn't get together last night, it was decided to order take-out and eat dinner at Ingrid's house.  Ingrid ordered Chinese food and had it delivered to the house.  She's still recovering from hip surgery so she can't move around too much.  After dinner, I think we all gave into a small food coma:

For the rest of the night we were all being entertained by Ava.  Uncle Andrew 'drove' her around in the wheelchair that Ingrid was using after her surgery.  She also repeated Uncle Andrew's "drop a deuce" while Brandi was checking her diaper.

Lifestyle Change

Since I've started dating Andrew I've gained about 20 lbs... in 4 months!  How did this happen?  First, I'm very happy now and in a good relationship.  I gained weight in my last relationship when I was happy and in love.  I know I tend to eat more when I'm not single and not trying to find a date.  Second, it's cold outside.  I'm not as active as I used to be in the summer and I eat more in the winter.  Third, I get depressed when I don't get a lot of sunlight.  When I get depressed like this, I eat.  Lastly, there is Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and all of the little parties in between where a lot of good food and sweets are being served.  I need to learn self-control when attending these festivities...  All of this has helped to contribute to my expanding waistline.

In order to be happy with my body and my health I need to lose weight and change my lifestyle.  I'm not incredibly obese and unhealthy, but I do need to take better care of myself.

GOALS:
