España - Day 2 - June 1, 2011

We started out our day by walking to the Palacio Real to meet up with the tour group we signed up for.

*in the tour bus...

For the first part of the day we visited Real Monasterio De San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

*main entrance

*courtyard statues

They didn't allow pictures to be taken inside the monastery.

We came back to Madrid to drop off some of the tourists and to eat lunch.
After walking around for an hour looking at menus with food we didn't know about we ended up at a sandwich place, Rodilla, for lunch.
Waiting for the second part of the tour, we ran into a group of Asian masseuses in the Plaza de Oriente:

Two of the ladies grabbed Andrew and me and pulled us to a bench where they started "molesting" us.  We kept saying no but they wouldn't stop.  Andrew kept smiling so they thought they could con us into buying massages.  Finally, we broke away from them feeling a little violated.

The second part of the day, we went to Toledo.

For dinner we tried Botin again but they didn't have an opening until 11:30 PM so we ended up at a Plaza Mayor restaurant (Corrientes) and paid too much for a plate of cheese! (14€)

Tapas:

Unsatisfied with dinner, Andrew ended up getting some 'papas fritas' and a Coke at a street restaurant on our way back to the hotel.  :)
